With my Star Trek, this or that thread taking off, I'm going to do another one, and possibly more, depending on the popularity of this one. However, there will be two exceptions to the thread. First off, this won't be a AP thread, as the character will already be quite old (in her 90s or older), thin and frail, as it is my personal preference. The reason behind this is because I'm already doing an AP thread, with the Star Trek one, plus I'm already comfortable writing a character old, and the Star Trek thread is my way to explore my writing AP. Second, you will get to choose what health problems the character will have, what they'll do, and who they'll meet. Also note that I tend to write G to PG, or PG-13 in some instances.
If some of you will recall, some time back, I was having issues coming up with a title for a story idea I had. It is partially based off the British science fiction show, Humans, where robotic androids, known as Synths, live and work alongside humans. In my story, which takes place in an alternate future of 2130, most Synths are subservient to humans based on their programming, however, a small percentage of Synths have developed a consciousness of sorts, giving them free will. After decades of campaigning (prior to the current setting), these "Free Synths" were finally given basic human rights (they are no longer bound to an owner, can get a job if they wish, have their own housing, etc), but must have a chip in them that identifies them as such.
In this, this or that thread, we focus on the day to day life of Mia Hawkins, a Free Synth that is 120 years old. Ever since she became a Free Synth, Mia has wanted to live the human experience. Because she wanted to live the human experience, Mia has allowed a program to be introduced that has allowed her physical appearance to age like a human. Due to her age (she was one of the first Synths created), Miaβs body is breaking down, and she is no longer able to maintain herself, or get proper maintenance (parts for her model no longer exist), and her body exhibits the appearance of health problems that is found in humans. Luckily, Mia is able to live on her own due to her modest wealth (she is/was able to make money after making investments).
For the first question, what should Mia use to get around? Should she...
Be in an electric wheelchair/scooter (it also makes it easier for her to charge up if she's in one)?
or
Use a metal frame walker/rollator to get around?
or
Use two regular/quad canes to get around?
