With kappa posting the Captain America's Life After Endgame video, which shows Steve and Peggy throughout the years, in a comedic sort of way, it reminded me of this story I posted on my DeviantArt page back in April. For those of you that don't know, in the MCU, Peggy was born on April 9, 1919, and would have been 100 years old if she was still alive today. So, as a celebration of her birthday (I posted the story on April 10th), I wrote a short story about Peggy's 100th birthday, and posted on my DA page. I've decided to post it here as well. Tell me what you guys think.
Peggy's Birthday Wish (Short Story)
At the dining hall of the Griffith Assisted Living Home for Women (formerly known as the Griffith Hotel), were banners, decorations, balloons, etc. One of the banners read, "Happy 100th Birthday Peggy!" All of the residents, including the birthday girl, had been taken back to their rooms, and the staff were cleaning up. Up on the 3rd floor, in one of the rooms, was a very frail, old woman, who was fast asleep in a wheelchair. Dressed in a stripped dress, with flat shoes, the old woman's shoulder length, silver hair was neatly done, as a glimmer came from the earrings in her ears. On her wrinkled lips, were ruby red lipstick. Her face, hands, and whatever else was visible, were wrinkled as well. Her fingernails were also painted a ruby red color. On top of her saggy breasts were a pair of very strong glasses, which was attached to a chain that was around her neck, moving up and down as she slept, as they had clearly fallen off of her face when she dosed off.
Around the old woman's room were pictures of long dead friends and loved ones, various awards that she had earned. On those awards was the name, Margaret "Peggy" Carter. Yes, the old woman in the room was the co-founder of S.H.I.E.L.D., a former SSR agent, and the birthday girl. Unfortunately for Peggy, she had put her work above everything else, even love and family. She had no one, and was alone.
As she slept, Peggy felt something touch her hand. Not thinking about it, she remained sleeping until she felt it again. Waking up, her head and hands shook from palsy, and she struggled to lift her head up. Once it was up, she squinted, barely making out a small figure in front of her. She wondered who it was, and a thought crossed her mind. Was it the child she wished for hours ago at her birthday party when she blew out the candles? A smile came across her ruby red, wrinkled lips, as the thought of her wish coming true made her happy.
