Lately I've been watching, or rather listening to ASMR videos on YouTube. For those of you not familiar what ASMR is, ASMR stands for Autonomous sensory meridian response, which is an experience characterized by a static-like or tingling sensation on the skin that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine. ASMR signifies the subjective experience of "low-grade euphoria" characterized by "a combination of positive feelings and a distinct static-like tingling sensation on the skin". It is most commonly triggered by specific auditory or visual stimuli, and less commonly by intentional attention control. Basically, certain things can trigger these experiences such as, whispering, tapping, crinkling of paper, even chewing of food. ASMR can either help you focus on a certain thing (like studying or doing homework), help you relax and unwind after a long day, or help you sleep at night (it helps me sleep).
MeanMark has even posted a thread in the Video section of the Found AP board called, The White Rabbit ASMR, in which the artist, created a character called Nonna, the viewer's Italian grandmother. She has even done old age makeup for the video (she's made two so far). Unfortunately, old age ASMR isn't very common. I recently learned though that people can be triggered through text, like through a story, but this isn't very common either. For ASMR written stories, you have to use your imagination, and imagine those triggers.
Anyway, I've decided to give writing old age ASMR stories a try and see what people think. I don't have good audio equipment, plus I don't think I can pull off playing an old woman through audio and video, as I'm a guy. I do believe that I'm a decent writer and will give it a go, see what happens. For a majority of my ASMR stories, I will them as having an old woman in a grandmotherly sense (such as possibly Wonder Woman or Black Widow) needing help from the reader, taking care of the reader when they're sick, spending the day with the reader, etc.
What do you guys think? What kind of scenario should I start with?
