Hey everyone! Since Chrono didn't post one the in past couple of days, I decided to write a prompt for this week up myself! This week:
What situations do you like to see APed characters in (whether in media or in fantasy)?
For me, I like when they have to solve a problem that would be easily accomplished in their youth, but old age makes the task much harder.

It adds alot of storytelling potential for a character in their now-aged state. (On another note, thanks so much for your awesome photo page which has provided me hours of enjoyment.) I love for a character to be very aware of their age change, their mind sharp and keen as their body has aged. I also enjoy when other characters, such as characters theu know, such as a friend or relative or even a rival sees them age & is able to give another perspective on theor aging changes from youth to old age. A public transformation works for me as well, but only if it is done believably & is not in so large a setting that it takes away from the great reactions to their aging.

Personally, I am a fan of the "damsel in distress" situation where a young girl has either been drained, or is in the process of being drained, of her youth and is awaiting her rescuer (whatever that may be). However, there have been a few stories I've read where the main character is aged and has to solve the problem themselves while also battling the physical/mental changes given with their transformation.

However, there have been a few stories I've read where the main character is aged and has to solve the problem themselves while also battling the physical/mental changes given with their transformation. I like the "damsel in distress" concept as well, with the female protagonist being aged, & awaits the heroic rescue...it works very well in comics & tv shows & some movies. A good example to me is the episode of the short-lived British tv series Strange, the episode "Zoxim", where the titular youth draining demon of the episode ages the sexy female protagonist Jude & Strange has to rescue her. Also in the movie "To the Ends of Time", where time is sped up(another concept I love used in AP, especially with clocks) in a kingdom & the princess, played by Marsha Brady herself Christine Taylor, is rapidly aging & awaits rescue from the hero of the film. I would love to do a story with that "damsel in distress" theme one day, but I find with my writing style it seems to work best in a comic or fanfic style format. I actually am referencing this trope a bit in a story I'm currently working on, where the villainess says to the aged primary female character "There is no happy ending here...no hero is going to come to your rescue in the final act." Or something to that effect, just my lil' nod to that trope lol That afforementioned story I'm working on however deals firmly with more of the theme you mentioned last, where the main character is aged & has to solve the problem despite the physical/mental effects of their rapid aging. I am trying to put my own spin on it by having the protagonist find help in her aged state every step of the way from another character, & their bond beong a source of strength for the protagonist in her time of need. That is pretty much where my writing is right now. Though I am definitely open to other avenues such as the aging damsel in distress in the future.

I had seen screencaps of this episode in the past, but never really ventured into watching it. I am impressed!

I'm glad I could direct you to it! I really like Jude(played by Samantha Janus) getting her youth drained- best part of the episode, I wish it was much longer lol The aging make-up done on her was very well done, & I love Strange coming in at practically the last minute to save Jude from the aging demon. For a few moments you actually wonder if she is going to revert to her original age lol Being too short is my only complain about the episode haha

It's hard to pick a situation. As long as there is middle-age or old age AP, I'm happy.

Lol One medium I am really working on using in a story I'm working on, something I have been tinkering with for a long time is a skin cream, be it a moisturizer or wrinkle cream or some combination of the two, that induces aging in the user once applied. It is one of the reasons I chose the piece of art I have as my avatar pic lol

For me, I like when they have to solve a problem that would be easily accomplished in their youth, but old age makes the task much harder. I was away for the holidays for a few weeks so thanks for posting a new prompt while I was gone Jack! Personally, the situations I most enjoy seeing a character APed in are sexual or romantic situations. Something about a young, pretty girl suddenly losing her looks and sex appeal while in the presence of someone she wants to attract just DOES it for me. You all see a ton of examples of this in my stories but unfortunately for me there aren't many examples in media. The best of the few i'd say would be the episode of Misfits where the girl turns back into an old lady in the throws of sex with one of the main characters. Kind of quintessential my favorite kind of AP moment. Another example (though this is after the fact - less fun) is the opening scene to the Outer Limits episode Paradise: www.dailymotion.com/video/x5ddhho Both examples involve women that are already old just temporarily made young again, so i'd LOVE for a show or film where the girl is actually a young woman and turned old in the midst of getting steamy with someone.
