Kappa mentioned that the Passion Pit song 1985 was written about the lead singer's wife who was turning 30 at the time the song came out and is now 35. It reminded me of something that i've been meaning to post on here for a while which is: Women who inspire songs about them that kind of create a time capsule of their youth - even though in real life they grow old. For example, the Girl from Ipanema was a 17-year old Brazilian beach beauty at the time she inspired the song. And the song continues to inspire the images of her youth and beauty, even though now that woman is 75. Here she is in an interview a couple years ago: Also the mysterious woman from the cover of Black Sabbath's first album has finally been found. She was 18 or 19 when the pictures of her were taken and she's pushing 70 now! consequenceofsound.net/2020/02/mysterious-woman-black-sabbaths-debut-album-cover-found/And songs like Hey Nineteen by Steely Dan was recorded in 1979 - which means that the 19-year-old girl who was too young and cool for the lead singer of Steely Dan was born in 1960! She's turning 60 this year, I wonder if there is some college-age boy that's caught her eye but makes her feel like she's too old and un-hip for him. Anyway I thought it might be fun to find more examples of this in music - share any song lyrics or titles the reference young women and we can figure out what year the song came out and how old the subject of the song might be today!

Minnie The Moocher: 1958We don't really have an idea of her age from the song and it kind of tells a long stories tale but let's pretend there was an 18 year old named Minnie sitting in the audience during Cab Calloway's performance who related to the song - she'd be turning 80 this year, her heart probably isn't the only thing as big as a whale now... I also suspect you just like this song because he describes every meal she eats as having a dozen courses. Anna Sun: 2010No reference to her age in the song but since the song is about a couple starting out maybe she was a straight-out-of-college 23 year old in 2010 and now she's a more established 33-year-old 10 years later. She's got some money now but more than her feet are probably starting to get sore... Roxanne: 1978Once again, no reference to the titular characters age but if she was a working girl in the mid to late 70s that Sting fell in love with that would put her over the age of 65 now. She's hopefully turned off that red light or else she's on her way to giving gum jobs for money. Waiting for my Ruca: 1992Still no age for the Ramona in the story but Bradley Nowell's real-life Ruca, Troy Dendekker, was 21 when the song came out. She's turning 50 next march and probably still knows how to bump-bump: Jessie's Girl: 1981
No age OR name for Jessie's girl. But Rick Springfield wrote the song about real life friend Gary and Gary's girlfriend, but I guess 'Gary's girl' didn't have the same ring to it. Anyway if the girlfriend was a few years younger than Rick Springfield was at the time (32) then she would be in her mid to late 60s now. It's unlikely any young guy is checking her out and asking themselves 'where can I find a woman like that?'. Victoria: 1969Okay Kappa, this song is clearly about Queen Victoria who was 150 years old at the time of the song's recording. She'd be 201 this year if she was kept alive through bio-genetic science; lots of weight training; and a good, clean diet. Come on Eileen: 1982All right, still no reference to Eileen's age BUT we have some context clues from the song and we can kind of picture her being a pretty, Irish teenager that the singer is obsessed with. So if she was 18 (She probably wasn't, she was probably a bit younger) then she would have been born in 1964 making her a woman of 56 now probably with teenagers or young adult children of her own. Probably doesn't fit into that pretty red dress anymore... Fun fact! This song was inspired by an old celtic song about a man in love with his pubescent cousin! Tiny Dancer: 1971Still no reference to any actual ages but the Tiny Dancer in question is a ballerina making her way by sewing clothes for a band in LA - so let's say early 20s. Tiny Dancer could potentially be in her early 70s by now and probably not so tiny with a big wrinkly badonk and she probably can't dance too well in the sand anymore for fear of breaking a hip!

Here's one of my favorite love songs of all time: Just Like Heaven by the Cure which was recorded in 1987: The song might not make you think the girl is dead but that video sure as hell does! With Robert Smith's real-life wife (then girlfriend) Mary Poole playing the ghost girl he dances with! She was the inspiration for the song, and was in her 20s when they recorded it and made the video. She's 61 now and if you were wondering if she filled out at all in middle age - you're in luck!

Here's a good one:
Stacy's Mom by Fountains of Wayne - 2003
- The song was inspired by a friend of the lead singer's who had a crush on the singer's grandma when they were growing up. - The model that played the mom in the video is Rachel Hunter who is 50 now! - If we assume that the Stacy in the song was a high schooler age 15 - 18, and her mom was about 38 - 41 in 2003, then TODAY Stacy would be about 32 - 35 and her mom be 55 - 58!
Which means that Stacy's soon to be the hot mom that her teenage daughter's friend lust over and Stacy's mom is probably a granny now!

Maggie May by Rod Stewart Released: 1971
So this song is actually about Rod Stewart's real life first sexual encounter when he was 16 back in 1961 with an older woman who seduced him at a music festival.
We don't know anything about the real Maggie May's identity, but the line 'The morning sun when it's in your face really shows your age' definitely implies that this wasn't some fresh perky 20-something that stole Rod's virginity that day.
If we generously assume she was merely twice the boys age that would have made her 32 in 1961, 42 when the song came out and 91 now! Wonder if she tells her grandkids about the time she seduced a teenage Rod Stewart!

This woman is the subject of the songs 'I Need You' and 'Something' by The Beatles; 'Layla' by Derek & the Dominoes and 'Wonderful Tonight' by Eric Clapton: She's Pattie Boyd, ex-wife of George Harrison and Eric Clapton who is 76-years-old now. But at the time she was inspiring those classic love ballads she looked like this: What a difference 53 years makes, am I right?
