So the fun conversation going on in Kappa's AP Nerd talk reminded me of an idea - would you folks ever be down for communal stories?
Here's how I envision it working:
One of us starts off a scenario like 'The movie 'Speed' but every mile everyone ages one year' and posts it as a new thread in the interactive stories folder with a brief description and maybe a running character list. Then writes up a short intro to the story introducing a few characters.
From there, whoever wants to can jump on and write a couple sentences or a couple paragraphs to move the story along, introducing more characters as they feel the need and bring the story in whatever direction they want and then someone else post a bit from there and then someone else post and someone else posts etc.
It would be pretty similar to what we were all just doing in Kappa's thread and it would be like this boards version of the CYOC site. If there's a lot of interest we could even have a few stories going at once.
But i'd only want to do it if there was general interest other than just me to participate. The AP Support group RP I started had some really great participation but in my opinion became hard to keep up because everyone was playing a specific character, so if someone stopped posting and your character was having a conversation with them you found yourself just standing there talking to a wall for a few weeks.
This would be different in that anyone can hope in and continue the story or take a hiatus and they story would keep going - as long as SOMEONE kept the balloon in the air.
So that's why I wanted to propose the idea in the abstract here first and see what people think and any thoughts or concerns people have before I just launched something that became DOA.
Take the poll i've put up here and reply with any thoughts you have. Maybe through brainstorming and discussion we can come up with a cool way to do interactive stories that'll work well!
