Was chatting AP with some folks and got to thinking about elderly Marvel heroines. Big surprise, right? More specifically, I found myself wondering about how if heroes got older, they wouldn't realistically be able to keep up. Their reflexes would be slower, their bodies stiffer. They wouldn't be able to take hits the same way or bounce back nearly as fast. Getting old HURTS. So at what point does Captain Marvel realize she's finally too old intergalactic sojourns? When does Spider-Gwen hang up the webshooters? At what point does Kamala Khan settle into becoming her grandkids' biggest fangran ? That got me inspired to explore some art about the moments when our favorite heroines realize they aren't as young as they used to be. That they are, in fact, getting too old for this shit. First up, here's Silk, bloody and bruised from fighting street hooligans that seem to get younger and younger every year. I've got a few more of these I'll try posting in a bit, but in the meanwhile, hope this inspires some fun discussion and concepts!

The spandex doesn't do a mature body many favors, but that's not always so bad

I imagine Natasha Romanoff probably consults a lot in her later years, but every so often she'll get a wild gray hair and leap into the fray to feel like the spy she used to be. Maybe one of these times the Gray Widow REALLY throws out her back and some Hydra goons almost retired her permanently. Thank goodness one of the new young SHIELD agents she trained recently was around. Maybe it's time to put away the red ledger and pull out a Bingo card...

These are great! Love the idea that the heroes are still doing heroing in their dotage. They are obviously more frail and brittle than they were in their youth - but also how many of them are going senile and just busting up the wrong people thinking that they might be Hydra?

Sorry, Keith, I already had this next one locked and loaded. Just imagining an elderly Carol Danvers having to deal with fluctuations in her cosmic energy that comes with age. Most heroines leave hot flashes behind at a certain age but not Captain Marvel apparently! And that's not even getting into the blood pressure monitor Night Nurse is making her wear now, or all the tinnitus she's gotten from getting into fist fights with Celestials.

It's also amazing that these ladies are insisting on suiting up in their skin-tight uniforms despite all of their sags and bags. That spandex can't possibly offer the chest support these old ladies need.

The “glory days” are real! Although I wonder if more heroines would adjust their costumes as they got older.
Captain Marvel’s outfit always struck me as a flight suit. What modifications/redesigns should her elderly outfit have, you think?

I mean, I think picturing them trying to squeeze into the sexy costumes of their youth is more fun. But practically I imagine Carol would go for some padded chest armor and firmer material so that A) Her old saggers weren't flopping about as she flew around everywhere. B) You could see the curves of her chest at all.

I understand maybe some future ones. I just made a mental connection between the two sometime after I had incidentally accidentally deleted and then afterall changing my mind on pointing out (through private messaging you) that even if they are biologically and chronologically those particular ages that doesn't necessarily mean Marvel - Too Old For This. So I instead made the comment that did instead. To not be disagreeable even if I still think that it would be the characters personal lifestyle choices and the gradual decade by decade results of those choices. Basically there doesn't have to be only the old age age progression that makes the Marvel characters be - Too Old For This.

I am am to expectant. It just seems that DC Comics artist Mikel Did the best job out of any other artist that I had seen in that sort of thing. So it honestly seems to be a possible goal for old age age progression artists to strive for in order to improve their own individual old age age progression artwork artistic method. I am trying to at least be encouraging others to improve in what they are already able to do currently.

Don't get me wrong I do appreciate your talent. It is simply that their seems to be a old age age progression even a extreme old age age progression accomplished artist to strive for within individual artists own artwork abilities/talents to improve themselves.
