Hey everybody, chronic procrastinator Ap lover here looking for some thoughts and ideas about a choose your own adventure game i want to try whip up and fiddle with.
The platform I'd be using is called Twine and it allows for pretty simple but robust choose your own adventure games with really no effort beyond writing them required. But with a bit of html coding you can also make a proper stat based game. I found out about it through an attribute theft game someone whipped up and after i popped open their code it looks pretty easy to get the swing of.
So basically i was wondering what thoughts anyone had about it, things they wanted to see in it and most of all any ideas for stats to have in the game like age, mobility, eyesight, ect.
Even if i don't manage to get stats implemented it should still be something pretty fun to mess around with.
So yea just wanted to put that thought in peoples heads and get a discussion going about it.

Ooh, that sounds really interesting. The first thing I'd imagine would be a fantasy setting, maybe generic stats like strength and intelligence?

Great minds think alike! I whipped this guy up yesterday to check twine out as a viable AP platform: chronoeclipse.itch.io/ap1But I like the ideas you have for it! It sounds a lot more involved and interesting than the basic CYOA story stuff that I had in mind! I really like the idea of having stats tracking various faculties aging as you go along! I'd love to discuss it more either here or through private message!

That's pretty fun for its length, was it easy to make?

Very easy. It took me basically no time at all. And the only thing even resembling coding is putting the [[]] around your options to link them. This page here will tell you everything you need to know to do what I did: twinery.org/wiki/twine2:how_to_create_your_first_storyBut there are other pages in that wiki that explain how to do some of the cooler stuff that APlover was talking about!

And yea i was playing around with the thought of not just doing a pure age stat but also adding in some kind of other age related stats to play around with. Age is the first one that came to mind obviously but I'll give implementing others a whirl. This game that inspired me is a general attribute theft game with height, weight/muscles, breast size, and ass size as stats that the player could steal and have stolen. But i could also try cutting my teeth by making a general fantasy type setting to get a feel for things.

It could be fun initially to have one that's a straight age-theft game. You go around stealing years from some people, making them younger and yourself older and then give the years you've built up to unsuspecting victims, making them old and yourself young again.

Hmmmmmm, that could work as a starting point. A quick trial version with maybe rejuvenating an old woman till shes young and then giving the years to a rude younger woman. The path wouldn't be very branched at first but getting the stat code down would open the way for a fantasy-esque age theft game in the future
Something with enemies that drain your youth if they beat you and vice versa.

I'm afraid not. I've been really busy these last few weeks and haven't had time to know out all the stuff that i wanted for the next update. A lot has been done but it isn't polished yet

That said, If people don't mind seeing something in progress and wont feel annoyed by it ill put it up. Just please please please keep in mind that this is a raw version that's really in progress. Feedback is always greedily welcomed but don't see how it is and assume that that's the quality level it will stay at. I guess what I'm saying is don't see it, think its crap, and write the whole endeavor off as a bust. With all that said check out the itch.io link to the game and check out the "updated" version 0.0.0.6 ap-lover.itch.io/chronovore

It should have pictures of the characters through out the game.

I'm hoping that ill have a better image selection in the next update with character images for any npcs at each of their ages. The only issue with player selection would be needing to make an image for each age times each appearance type.
But I'll definitely add more images in.
